This 87 hectares (STS) is handy to Morrinsville and is considered one of the best farms in the area with a consistent production record well in excess of 100,000 milk solids. The current Fonterra shareholding is 106,000.
The contour is all flat with peaty loam soils that have been fastidiously farmed with a carefully managed nutrient and fertiliser regime. A well located 26 ASHB feeds out to 60 paddocks and has an auto teat spray system. The dairy is supported by a four bay implement/calf rearing shed, a four bay gable shed with lock-up workshop (concrete floor), two hay barns and a tidy storage shed.
Currently 300 cows are milked with a 20th July calving date and heifers are grazed off. The effluent system consists of a holding pond with a pump and stirrer which irrigates 34 hectares via underground plumbing, hydrants and a travelling irrigator.
Water is sourced from a bore near the shed and put through a sand filter before being pumped to the farm via 32mm mainlines to troughs in each paddock. Last season 60 tonne of PKE and 60 tonne of maize supplemented the grass fed system.
The main house is five years old with three bedrooms, an ensuite and a separate self-contained one bedroom unit. The second is a three bedroom brick home with garage and storage shed (separate titles are pending for both house blocks).
The Sellers have made a commitment to sell with the herd and machinery also available as the Sellers are retiring from farming.
